‘Danger’ Level Heat Indices to Hit Iloilo and Northern Samar this Monday, April 6

As the country transitions out of the Holy Week break, the state weather bureau PAGASA warns that extreme heat will continue to grip several parts of the Philippines. On Monday, April 6, 2026, at least two areas are expected to reach the “Danger” category, where heat exhaustion and heat cramps are likely, and heat stroke becomes a significant risk with prolonged exposure.

According to the latest forecast from PAGASA, the following areas are projected to hit a heat index of 42°C:

  • Dumangas, Iloilo
  • Catarman, Northern Samar

Both areas also recorded danger-level indices on Easter Sunday, with Dumangas reaching a peak of 43°C, the highest in the country for that day.

While only two areas are currently in the danger zone, dozens of other locations will experience “Extreme Caution” levels. Notable forecasts include:

  • Limit Outdoor Exposure: Stay indoors between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM when the sun is at its strongest.
  • Wear Appropriate Clothing: Opt for wide-brimmed hats, umbrellas, and light-colored, loose-fitting clothes.
  • Know the Signs: Watch out for dizziness, fainting, headache, or extreme thirst—symptoms that may signal heat exhaustion or the onset of heat stroke.
