Fair Weather Prevails in Most of PH on Sunday – PAGASA

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that fair weather will prevail over most parts of the country this Sunday, March 22, 2026.

According to the 5:00 AM advisory, the Easterlies—warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean—remain the dominant weather system. This is bringing warmer conditions and generally partly cloudy to cloudy skies across the archipelago.

  • General Conditions: Most areas, including Metro Manila, will experience fair weather with localized thunderstorms possible in the afternoon or evening.
  • Temperature and Heat Index: High temperatures continue to be a concern. PAGASA noted that a heat index as high as 40°C is possible in areas such as Zamboanga City, Cotabato City, and Maguindanao.
  • Rain and Thunderstorms: While fair weather is the baseline, isolated rain showers or severe thunderstorms may still trigger flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.
  • Marine Conditions: No gale warning has been issued. Coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, making it safe for most sea travel.
  • Tropical Cyclone Update: As of Sunday morning, no low-pressure areas (LPAs) or active cloud clusters are being monitored within or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Regional Outlook:

  • Luzon & Visayas: Generally fair weather with brief rain showers in the afternoon.
  • Mindanao: Mostly fair, though the eastern sections may see slightly more cloud cover and isolated thunderstorms due to the direct influence of the Easterlies.

PAGASA advises the public to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during the peak heat hours of the day.
