MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau, PAGASA, reported that two prevailing weather systems—the Easterlies and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan)—are currently affecting various parts of the country this Wednesday.
- Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands: These areas are expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Residents are warned of possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rainfall.
- Batanes and Babuyan Islands: These extreme northern islands will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by the weakening Northeast Monsoon.
- Metro Manila and the Rest of the Country: Expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, primarily due to the warm and humid easterlies. These conditions are most likely to occur in the afternoon or evening.
- Temperature: Highs of up to 33°C are forecast for Tuguegarao, Zamboanga, and Davao. Metro Manila and Cebu are expected to reach around 32°C.
- Sea Conditions: Moderate to rough seas may prevail over the seaboards of extreme Northern Luzon, while the rest of the archipelago will experience slight to moderate coastal waters.
- Tropical Cyclone Watch: As of 4:00 AM today, no low-pressure areas (LPA) or tropical cyclones are being monitored within or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). However, PAGASA previously noted that at least one storm, to be named “Caloy,” is expected to enter PAR within the month of March.
