181 Capiz Cops Deployed to Boracay for ASEAN Financial Summit

BORACAY, Aklan — A contingent of 181 police personnel from the Capiz Police Provincial Office (PPO) has been deployed to Boracay Island to secure the ASEAN Senior Level Committee (SLC) on Financial Integration and Related Meetings, which will run from March 1 to 7, 2026.

The deployment is part of a massive regional security effort to protect international delegates attending the summit in one of the Philippines’ premier tourism hubs.

  • Pre-Deployment Briefing: The augmented forces gathered at Camp Teodorico C. Apil in Roxas City early on March 1 for a final accounting led by Lt. Col. Ricardo B. Jomuad Jr. and supervised by Provincial Director Col. Albert D. Tapulao.
  • Mission: The personnel are tasked with ensuring a peaceful and orderly environment for discussions focused on financial integration among ASEAN member states.
  • Regional Support: Because Western Visayas is hosting several high-level ASEAN events this year (including meetings in Iloilo City), neighboring provinces like Capiz are providing extra “boots on the ground” to maintain visibility and safety.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has placed Boracay under strict security protocols for the duration of the weeklong event. This includes:

  1. Increased Patrols: Heightened police presence in delegates’ hotels, meeting venues, and popular tourist spots.
  2. Inter-Agency Coordination: Close collaboration between local police, the Coast Guard, and national security agencies.
  3. Regional Augmentation: In addition to the Capiz contingent, forces from other provinces in Region 6 are also supporting the operation.

The summit comes at a time of global economic sensitivity, and authorities are focused on preventing any disruptions to the international engagements being hosted on the island.
