PAGASA Forecasts Hot, Humid Monday Across Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) has warned the public to prepare for a “hot and humid” Monday, March 2, 2026, as the easterlies continue to dominate the country’s weather patterns.

According to weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio, the entire archipelago—from Luzon down to Mindanao—will experience generally fair but warm weather conditions throughout the next 24 hours. The easterlies, which are warm winds originating from the Pacific Ocean, are the primary cause of the rising temperatures and high humidity.

  • Sky Conditions: Expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies across the country.
  • Rainfall: While the day will be mostly sunny, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are highly likely, particularly in the afternoon or evening.
  • Severe Weather Warning: PAGASA warned that these localized thunderstorms could still be severe enough to cause flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.

Tuguegarao City is expected to record the highest temperature today, reaching up to 34°C. Forecasted ranges for major cities include:

  • Metro Manila: 25°C to 32°C
  • Tuguegarao City: 24°C to 34°C
  • Davao / Zamboanga: 23°C to 33°C
  • Cebu / Iloilo / Tacloban: 25°C to 32°C
  • Baguio City: 17°C to 25°C (remaining the coolest point in the country)

In a positive update for travelers and residents, Aurelio confirmed that PAGASA is not monitoring any Low Pressure Area (LPA) or potential tropical cyclones forming within or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at this time.

Coastal conditions are expected to be slight to moderate, making it safe for small seacraft to venture out, except during localized thunderstorms. However, the Amihan (Northeast Monsoon) is expected to briefly resurface by Wednesday, potentially bringing cooler winds back to Northern Luzon.
