PAGASA Predicts Fair Weather for Metro Manila and Most of PH This Sunday

MANILA, Philippines — Residents in Metro Manila and most parts of the country can look forward to a sunny Sunday, March 1, 2026, as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) observes generally fair weather conditions across the archipelago.

Weather Breakdown:

In the early morning forecast, PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres noted that satellite images show very few cloud formations over the country.

  • Luzon & Metro Manila: Both are expected to enjoy fair weather throughout the day. While the skies will be mostly clear, there remains a slight chance of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.
  • Easterlies Influence: The “easterlies” (warm winds from the Pacific Ocean) continue to be the dominant weather system, which may bring isolated rain showers to certain areas, though no major storms are currently being monitored.
  • Tropical Cyclone Update: There are currently no low-pressure areas (LPA) or active tropical cyclones within or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). PAGASA earlier estimated that zero to one tropical cyclone may form or enter the PAR during the month of March.

Weekly Outlook:

The fair weather in Luzon is expected to persist until Thursday. However, by Wednesday, the northeast monsoon (amihan) is projected to intensify slightly. This change will bring:

  • Metro Manila: Fair weather with a chance of light rain.
  • Palawan: A higher probability of thunderstorms.
  • Rest of Luzon: Continued fair weather with scattered light rains.

Whether you’re planning a family outing or catching up on outdoor errands, today’s weather is ideal for most activities. Just keep an umbrella handy for those brief, localized bursts of rain typical of the easterlies.
