Expect a bit of everything this Saturday, February 28, 2026, as two major weather systems continue to influence the archipelago. According to the latest bulletin from PAGASA, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and the Easterlies are currently the primary drivers of our weekend weather, bringing a mix of cool breezes and scattered rain showers.
Whether you’re planning a beach trip or staying in, here is what you can expect in your area.
Regional Forecast: Where the Rain is Falling
The country is currently split between the cooling effects of the north and the warm, moist air from the Pacific:
- Davao Region and Eastern Mindanao: Residents in the Davao Region, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, South Cotabato, and Sarangani should keep their umbrellas handy. The Easterlies are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. PAGASA warns of possible flash floods or landslides during heavy downpours.
- Extreme Northern Luzon: The Amihan is still making its presence felt in Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, where residents can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains and slightly cooler temperatures.
- Metro Manila and the Rest of Luzon: It’s looking like a generally fair weekend for the capital and surrounding provinces. Expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with only a slim chance of isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
- Visayas and the Rest of Mindanao: These areas will experience similar conditions—mostly fair weather with occasional isolated thunderstorms caused by the heat and humidity.
Sea Conditions and Cyclone Update
For those heading out to sea, the news is mostly positive. There are currently no gale warnings in effect, with coastal waters across the archipelago expected to be slight to moderate.
Additionally, the state weather bureau confirmed that no tropical cyclones are expected to enter or develop within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) for at least the next two to three days.
On February 28, 2026, PAGASA reported that the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) is affecting Extreme Northern Luzon, while the Easterlies are impacting the rest of the Philippines. Scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in the Davao Region and parts of Mindanao, with potential for flash floods. Batanes and Babuyan Islands will see light rains from the monsoon. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally fair weather with isolated thunderstorms. No tropical cyclones are currently being monitored.
