Filipinos’ Love Life Happiness Remains at All-Time Low

MANILA, Philippines — As the country prepares for Valentine’s Day, the latest data from the Social Weather Stations (SWS) suggests that the state of romance in the Philippines remains at a historic low.

In a report released on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the SWS revealed that the percentage of adult Filipinos who say they are “very happy” with their love life remains stuck at 46 percent. This figure is unchanged from 2024 and represents the lowest level recorded since the pollster began tracking the measure in 2004.

Key Findings from the November 2025 Survey The survey, conducted among 1,200 adults from November 24 to November 30, 2025, broke down the national sentiment as follows:

  • “Very Happy”: 46% (Record low, unchanged from 2024).
  • “Could be Happier”: 40% (Up from 36% in 2024).
  • “No Love Life”: 14% (Down from 18% in 2024).

Happiness by Relationship Status The survey highlighted significant differences based on marital and domestic situations:

  • Married Women: Reported the highest happiness levels at 57 percent, a slight increase from 54 percent the previous year.
  • Married Men: Saw a decline in happiness, falling to 55 percent from 61 percent in 2024.
  • Live-in Partners: Happiness among women in live-in arrangements dropped significantly to 45 percent (from 53%), while men in similar situations remained stable at 50 percent.
  • Single/No Partner: Only 22 percent of women without a spouse or partner reported being happy with their love life, compared to 28 percent of men in the same category (up from 19%).

Context and Methodology The record-low 46 percent figure marks a sharp contrast to the early 2000s, suggesting a long-term downward trend in romantic satisfaction among Filipinos over the last two decades. Researchers have previously pointed to economic stress, the rise of digital dating, and shifting social norms as potential factors influencing these figures.

The survey used face-to-face interviews and has a margin of error of ±3 percent for national percentages. As the “very happy” segment remains the minority for the second year in a row, the 40 percent who say they “could be happier” represents a growing plurality of Filipinos seeking more fulfillment in their personal relationships.
