Rains and Cloudy Skies to Persist Across PH on Thursday

MANILA, Philippines — Several parts of the country are expected to experience cloudy skies and rainfall on Thursday, February 12, 2026, as three distinct weather systems continue to influence the Philippine archipelago.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the shear line, the northeast monsoon (amihan), and the easterlies are the primary drivers of the current weather conditions.

Weather System Breakdown

  1. The Shear Line: This system is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain or isolated thunderstorms to several provinces, including:
    • Luzon: Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and the Bicol Region.
    • Visayas: Negros Occidental, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, and Leyte.
  2. Northeast Monsoon (Amihan): The amihan continues to prevail over Northern and Central Luzon, specifically affecting:
    • Cloudy with Light Rain: Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora.
    • Partly Cloudy with Isolated Light Rain: Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, the rest of Cordillera, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon.
  3. The Easterlies: Warm winds from the Pacific are bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms to:
    • Mindanao: Caraga and the Davao Region.
    • Visayas: Southern Leyte.
    • Rest of the Country: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected elsewhere.

Maritime Conditions Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz-Galicia confirmed that there are currently no gale warnings raised for any part of the Philippine coastal waters.

However, the state weather bureau advised fisherfolk and those using small seacrafts near the northern and eastern seaboards to remain cautious. Moderate to rough waves are anticipated throughout the day due to the prevailing wind systems.

Pagasa continues to monitor these systems for any significant developments as the amihan season remains active across the northern portion of the country.
