Bella Belen Drops Pro Career-High 26 Points as Capital1 Overcomes ZUS Coffee

MANILA, PhilippinesBella Belen proved why she is the reigning “Miss Volleyball” of the Philippines, delivering a masterful performance to lead the Capital1 Solar Spikers to a four-set victory over ZUS Coffee in their 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference opener on Tuesday night, February 3.

Belen finished with a pro career-high 26 points (24 kills and two aces) to power the Solar Spikers to a 25-17, 25-16, 15-25, 25-19 win at the Ynares Center.

Key Highlights and “Killer Instinct” The three-time UAAP MVP out of National University (NU) took charge in the fourth set when the Solar Spikers found themselves trailing 13-17.

  • The Run: Belen scored six points during a pivotal 12-2 run that effectively closed out the game.
  • Transitioning the Instinct: “That killer instinct, I’ve carried it with me from my NU days all the way to the PVL,” Belen said after the match. She added that while ZUS was fighting back, she felt the need to push herself to ensure the game didn’t slip away.
  • All-Around Game: Beyond her scoring, Belen contributed 16 digs and seven excellent receptions, showcasing the defensive maturity that has become her trademark.

Strong Supporting Cast Belen credited Capital1’s new acquisitions for providing the necessary depth to keep the team competitive.

  • Shaya Adorador: Made an impressive debut with 14 points and seven receptions.
  • Ysa Jimenez: Contributed 13 points in the victory.
  • Pauline Gaston: Added 10 points to the Solar Spikers’ tally.
  • Rachel Jorvina: The newcomer libero stepped up in the absence of captain Roma Mae Doromal (who was sidelined due to illness), recording 21 excellent digs.

Looking Ahead Capital1 is aiming to surpass its previous franchise-best quarterfinals appearance. Belen believes the current roster is better balanced and more competitive than in previous conferences.

The Solar Spikers face a major test this coming Saturday as they go up against the revamped Nxled Chameleons, led by three-time league MVP Brooke Van Sickle.

Belen is also set to be honored as the Philippine Sportswriters Association’s (PSA) Miss Volleyball during an awards ceremony on February 16, further cementing her status as the face of the next generation of Philippine volleyball.
