Metro Manila Domestic Workers to Receive P800 Monthly Wage Increase Starting February 7

MANILA, Philippines — The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) has officially approved a significant increase in the monthly minimum wage for domestic workers (kasambahay) in Metro Manila.

Under Wage Order No. NCR-DW-06, which was signed on January 15, the minimum wage for domestic workers in the National Capital Region (NCR) will increase by P800.

New Wage Standards

  • Current Monthly Wage: P7,000
  • New Monthly Wage: P7,800
  • Effectivity Date: February 7, 2026

Context of the Hike This adjustment follows a broader trend of wage increases in the capital. In early 2025, the NWPC approved a P50 increase in the daily minimum wage for private sector workers in Metro Manila to help households cope with the rising cost of living.

The P800 monthly hike specifically targets domestic workers, ensuring they receive a more equitable share of the regional economic growth. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is expected to monitor compliance once the order takes effect next month.

Employers in the Metro Manila area are advised to adjust their payrolls accordingly to comply with the new mandated minimum. Failure to meet the new wage standards may result in legal penalties under the Batang Kasambahay Act and related labor laws.
