At least six schools in remote parts of Benguet Province now have access to reliable electricity and internet connectivity thanks to the AuroraPH program — a flagship initiative by the Aboitiz Foundation in partnership with Aboitiz Renewables.
The project installs solar power systems and internet infrastructure at previously unenergized schools in far-off barangays, giving students and teachers new tools for digital learning. Before this support, many of these schools had no access to stable electricity or online connectivity, limiting their ability to use modern educational resources. With AuroraPH, classrooms can now use computers, multimedia tools, and online research platforms, helping improve learning outcomes and engagement.
School officials and community members say the upgrade is already making a difference, empowering learners to explore information beyond textbooks and allowing teachers to adopt new instructional approaches that rely on digital resources. The initiative reflects a broader effort to close the education gap for students in geographically isolated communities.
- Bridges the digital divide: Solar electricity and internet access enable remote schools to participate in digital education.
- Supports teachers and learners: With powered devices and connectivity, educators can enrich lessons and students can conduct research and collaborate online.
- Promotes sustainable solutions: Solar power provides a clean, reliable alternative to traditional energy in areas off the grid.
