About 2,400 Passengers and Cargoes Stranded at Bicol Ports Due to Tropical Storm Ada

Rough seas brought by Tropical Storm Ada have forced the suspension of sea travel in parts of the Bicol Region, leaving around 2,435 passengers and 1,167 rolling cargoes stranded at various ports in Albay, Masbate, and Sorsogon.

Coast Guard authorities halted vessel operations as wind and wave conditions grew unsafe, prompting a temporary shutdown of departures and arrivals across affected terminals. Stranded travelers — including commuters and families — had to wait on shore as shipping companies and port officials halted trips to protect lives and vessels.

Officials are monitoring the storm closely and will resume sea travel once conditions improve and the ban is lifted. In the meantime, local agencies are coordinating to assist passengers and ensure safety in affected port areas.

  • Travel disruptions can affect livelihoods, schedules, and cargo deliveries in the region.
  • Large numbers of stranded passengers highlight the impact severe weather can have on transportation networks.
  • Authorities prioritize safety during storms, but resumption of travel depends on improved conditions and official advisories.
