Signal No. 1 Up in 11 Areas as TD Ada Slightly Intensifies – PAGASA

MANILA — Tropical Depression Ada slightly intensified as it moves slowly westward over the Philippine Sea, prompting Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over 11 areas in Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region as of January 15, 2026, 5:00 a.m., according to the latest bulletin from PAGASA.

Ada was last spotted 510 km east of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving west northwest at 10 km/h and is forecast to make landfall over Northern Samar or Eastern Samar between late Thursday (January 15) and early Friday (January 16).

  • Heavy rainfall: Moderate to heavy rains possible over Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and parts of Visayas and Mindanao through Friday. Flash floods and landslides remain a risk in low-lying and mountainous areas.
  • Rough seas: Gale warning remains in effect over eastern seaboard of Luzon and Visayas — small vessels advised not to venture out.
  • Storm surge: Possible 1–2 meter surge in coastal areas of Eastern Visayas upon landfall.
