MANILA — After a decade-long absence, the legendary musical Les Misérables is making its highly anticipated return to the Philippines, with performances scheduled at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City starting March 2026. The announcement, made on January 11, 2026, has already sparked massive excitement among theatergoers, who remember the sold-out runs in 2014–2015.
The new production is presented by Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group in partnership with Cameron Mackintosh (the original producer), promising a fully reimagined staging with updated sets, costumes, and a fresh international cast alongside top Filipino talent.
What to Expect from This Return
- Iconic Score — All the beloved songs remain: “I Dreamed a Dream,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?,” “One Day More,” “Bring Him Home,” and more.
- New Direction & Design — Directed by Laurence Connor (who helmed the acclaimed 25th and 30th anniversary tours), with new scenic design by Matt Kinley that incorporates modern projection mapping while honoring the classic 19th-century setting.
- Cast Highlights — A mix of West End/Broadway veterans and Filipino leading actors. Auditions are ongoing for local roles (Jean Valjean, Javert, Fantine, Éponine, Marius, Cosette, and the students).
- Extended Run — Expected to run for several months with multiple shows per week — a sign of high demand.
- Ticket Prices & On-Sale — Prices range from P2,500 to P8,500 (VIP & premium seats). Tickets go on sale in late January 2026 via Ticketworld and SM Tickets.
This marks the third major Manila run of Les Misérables (after 1993 and 2014), and the first since the 30th anniversary tour. The musical, based on Victor Hugo’s novel, tells the timeless story of redemption, revolution, and human struggle in 19th-century France.
