
MANILA – The rehabilitation of the dedicated inner busway lane along EDSA’s northbound and southbound sections—from Roxas Boulevard to Orense—has been fully completed, with normal operations resuming as of January 6, 2026. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced the milestone, crediting the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for swift asphalt overlay work as part of the broader P6-billion EDSA Rehabilitation Project.
Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez praised the timing: “Great news for commuters returning to school and work—faster, more convenient trips on the busway.” Bus drivers and passengers reported smoother rides and reduced travel times on January 6.
Project Details
- Completed Phase: Asphalt overlay on the exclusive bus lane.
- Broader Project: Full EDSA rehab (started Dec 24, 2024) continues until ~August 2025, with phased nighttime works (10 p.m.–4 a.m.) from Jan 6 to May 31.
- Reminder: Private vehicles remain banned from the busway; enforcement via SAICT and MMDA continues.
