DPWH Releases EDSA Rehab Schedule for Dec 28 to Jan 5: Plan Your Holiday Travel

MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced the rehabilitation and reblocking schedule along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and connecting roads from December 28, 2025, to January 5, 2026, to minimize disruptions during the post-Christmas and New Year period. The works—focusing on concrete repaving, asphalt overlay, and drainage improvements—will be conducted in phases, primarily at night (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.) where possible, to ease traffic flow.

Motorists are advised to expect lane closures and plan alternate routes, especially on heavily traveled sections like Ortigas, Guadalupe, and Quezon Avenue interchanges.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon assured minimal impact: “We’ve timed works for low-traffic periods and holidays to avoid major congestion—motorists can expect smoother rides soon.” Coordination with MMDA includes traffic rerouting, signage, and real-time updates via social media.

For commuters returning from provincial holidays or running errands, this schedule means patience on key arteries—but long-term benefits for one of Metro Manila’s busiest thoroughfares.

Travel Tips:

  • Use alternate routes like C5, Commonwealth, or Marcos Highway.
  • Check Waze/MMDA apps for live traffic.
  • Allow extra time, especially January 2-5 (post-New Year return peak).

Safe travels and happy holidays!
