DOH Reports Surge in Dengue Cases Over Two‑Week Span in October

The Department of Health (DOH) has reported a significant uptick in dengue cases over a two‑week period in October, highlighting growing concerns over mosquito-borne disease spread. This comes as the country continues to grapple with rising dengue infections year-to-date, which are already markedly higher than in previous years.

Health officials are urging the public to remain vigilant and continue following the “4S” strategy:

  • Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites
  • Secure self-protection (use mosquito repellent, wear long sleeves)
  • Seek early consultation if symptoms appear
  • Support fogging or spraying in hotspot areas

They emphasize that early detection and treatment remain key to preventing severe dengue and reducing fatalities.
