Karl Eldrew Yulo, younger brother of Olympian Carlos Yulo, made waves at the 3rd FIG Junior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships by qualifying for four finals—the individual all‑around, floor exercise, vault, and horizontal bar.
His strongest event was the floor exercise, where he scored 14.233 (difficulty 5.400, execution 8.733), securing second place in qualification. In vault, he ranked 5th with an average of 13.750 from two jumps, and in horizontal bar he finished 6th with a total of 13.700 (difficulty 5.100, execution 8.900, minus 0.3 penalty).
For the all‑around, Yulo posted a total of 78.332, placing 15th and securing a spot in the final.
His brother Carlos expressed pride, noting the different styles between them and hinting that Karl Eldrew is the next generation of Philippine gymnastics talent.
Karl Eldrew said he plans to finish senior high school first, then focus fully on his gymnastics career and learning Japanese. He emphasized the sacrifices his training has required over the past years.
