ICI Plans to Inspect Flood-Control Projects in Cebu

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) is set to conduct on-site inspections of flood-control projects in Central Cebu, including Cebu City and Mandaue.

ICI officials aim to understand why flooding worsened in certain areas despite significant allocations to flood mitigation efforts.

To support the investigation, the ICI will review bidding and contract documents and compare them with on-the-ground implementation.

Why It Matters:

  • The review could uncover mismanagement or design flaws in previously funded flood-control projects.
  • It highlights concerns about transparency and accountability in infrastructure spending.
  • Findings may lead to legal or administrative action if discrepancies are confirmed.
