A BuCor officer was arrested inside the NBP compound in Muntinlupa after authorities discovered suspected “shabu” hidden in his possession. The contraband, valued at over ₱131,000, was found during a search operation conducted within the prison grounds.
According to reports, the officer attempted to bring the illicit drugs into the NBP facility under atypical circumstances, raising questions about internal security and oversight within the corrections system.
Investigators from BuCor’s internal affairs and cooperating law-enforcement units have begun an inquiry to determine whether the incident is isolated or part of a larger network of smuggling activities inside the prison. They are examining surveillance footage, personnel logs, and entrance records at the compound.
BuCor has emphasised its commitment to upholding discipline among its personnel and has pledged to take “appropriate and decisive action” against anyone found complicit in facilitating the flow of prohibited substances into penitentiary facilities.
