In Brgy. Fortune, Marikina City, there’s a special place where pet owners can lay their beloved furry companions to rest. The Pet Memorial Garden was established in 2020, after the barangay noticed an increase in stray and abandoned animals dying on the streets.
Here’s how it works:
- The facility accepts not only dogs and cats, but also other pets like rabbits or birds — basically any companion animal whose owner wishes to honour its memory.
- For residents of Brgy. Fortune, burial costs around ₱300; for non-residents it’s about ₱500. These fees include the burial plot and a marker or lapida.
- It has become a meaningful destination especially around the Undas (All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day), when pet owners visit to light candles, leave flowers, and honour the memory of their departed companions.
In short: The Pet Memorial Garden offers a dignified and dedicated space for pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge, recognizing them as members of the family and providing a shared place of remembrance.
