Mario Búcaro Named CEO of Miss Universe Organization, Succeeding Anne Jakrajutatip

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has announced that Mario Búcaro will succeed Anne Jakrajutatip as its Chief Executive Officer.

Jakrajutatip, who acquired the MUO in 2022, will step away from the CEO role effective June 2025 to focus on family matters and other priorities.

Búcaro — formerly the Vice President of International Relations for the MUO and a diplomat before joining the pageant organization — will take on the leadership role and work closely with current President Raul Rocha to guide the organization into its next phase.

What’s Changing & Why It Matters

  • The leadership change comes just ahead of the 2025 Miss Universe pageant in Thailand, indicating a strategic pivot for the organization.
  • Under Búcaro’s leadership, the MUO says it will continue to focus on global outreach, candidate experience, and brand integrity.
  • The transition also follows notable financial and legal turbulence with Jakrajutatip’s parent company, highlighting a need for stabilisation within the organisation.
