Filipino gymnastics star Carlos Yulo has once again taken the world stage by storm, winning gold in the men’s vault final at the 53rd 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Stepping into the arena from Manila’s Leveriza district, Yulo delivered a stunning opening vault—front handspring, double-pike front half out—that earned a massive 15.200 score thanks to a 9.500 execution and bonus.
He followed up with another solid vault scoring 14.533, bringing his two-vault average to 14.866 and clinching the gold.
Close on his heels were Armenia’s Artur Davtyan, who scored 14.833, and Ukraine’s Nazar Chepurnyi with 14.483, for silver and bronze respectively.
What makes this win especially meaningful: This is Yulo’s second world title on vault (his first came in 2021) and his third world-championship gold overall, cementing his status as one of the premier vaulters on the planet.
Despite battling a minor wrist injury going into the tournament, Yulo powered through with composure and precision, showing why he remains a powerhouse in his discipline.
For the Philippines, Yulo’s victory is yet another proud moment: his performance uplifts Philippine gymnastics on the global scene and offers inspiration for future athletes.
