UAAP Breaks Ground on New Home Venue in Pasig

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) has officially commenced construction of its new home venue with a groundbreaking ceremony held on October 24, 2025, at a 1.8-hectare site along Amang Rodriguez Avenue in Pasig City.

The state-of-the-art arena, set to open in 2027, will feature an 8,000-seat capacity and serve as the central hub for all indoor sports in the UAAP’s 18-sport calendar. It will also house the league’s office and headquarters. The design of the venue includes a façade lined with LED lights that will illuminate the colors of the winning university after each UAAP game.

Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation CEO Christopher Tiu likened the project to the 1989 film Field of Dreams, stating, “If you build it, they will come.” He emphasized that the arena will serve as a breeding ground and incubation center for future athletes who will bring pride to their schools and the country.

UAAP Season 88 Chairman Fr. Richard G. Ang, OP, of host school University of Santo Tomas, highlighted the significance of the project, stating, “From its humble beginning in 1938, the UAAP has evolved into a powerful tradition of unity and legacy—producing generations of student-athletes, uniting rival schools under one banner, and inspiring the nation through the spirit of competition and camaraderie.”

The “Home of the UAAP” is expected to become more than just a sports venue; it aims to be a true home—a space of belonging, and a place where champions and icons will be nurtured.
