Brian Poe Llamanzares pushes for nationwide school feeding program powered by cloud kitchens

Brian Poe Llamanzares is calling for a nationwide school feeding program that uses a “cloud kitchen” system to make nutritious meals more accessible to public school students.

Poe, who serves as chief of staff to Senator Grace Poe, explained that cloud kitchens—or centralized food preparation hubs—could help streamline operations, reduce costs, and ensure food safety across schools. He believes the system could help address hunger among children, especially in areas where access to healthy meals remains limited.

He added that with proper coordination among local government units, schools, and private partners, the program could also generate jobs and promote local agriculture by sourcing ingredients directly from farmers.

“Malnutrition affects learning. If we can use technology and efficient systems to make feeding programs sustainable, we’re investing in our students’ future,” Poe said.

The proposal is in line with ongoing efforts to strengthen nutrition programs in public schools and support the Department of Education’s initiatives to combat child hunger.
