The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is pushing forward with its goal to provide internet access to all Department of Education (DepEd) schools across the Philippines by December this year, according to Representative Grace Poe.
Poe commended the DICT for accelerating efforts to bridge the country’s digital divide, saying that internet connectivity is crucial for students and teachers to keep up with modern learning standards. The project, she added, is a vital step toward making education more inclusive and technology-driven.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader “Broadband ng Masa” program, which aims to improve digital infrastructure nationwide—especially in remote and underserved areas.
If successful, millions of Filipino students will benefit from improved access to online learning materials and educational tools, leveling the playing field for schools in both urban and rural communities.
