
Broadway legend and Tony Award winner Lea Salonga is set to make history as the first Filipino to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Salonga shared her excitement on Instagram Stories after learning of the honor, reposting an article from Billboard. “Just now woke up to this bit of amazing news!” she wrote. “Many thanks to the Manila International Film Festival for nominating me to be part of the class of 2025-26!”
According to Billboard, Salonga will join an illustrious group of 2026 honorees that includes Miley Cyrus, Timothée Chalamet, Emily Blunt, and Rachel McAdams. Dates for the ceremonies are yet to be announced, but recipients have up to two years to schedule their star unveiling.
Salonga recently performed in Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends on Broadway, earning a 2025 Drama League Award nomination. She’s also set to star as The Witch in the Philippine production of Into the Woods this August, sharing the stage with her child, Nic Chien, who will play Jack.
