Trump Defends Netanyahu, Slams Israeli Corruption Trial as ‘Political Witch Hunt’

U.S. President Donald Trump voiced strong opposition to the ongoing corruption trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that the United States “will not stand” for his prosecution. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump emphasized America’s significant financial and defense support for Israel, suggesting that Netanyahu’s legal troubles are unjustified.

Trump’s remarks come after an Israeli court denied Netanyahu’s request to delay his testimony, citing insufficient grounds. The Israeli leader faces multiple charges, including accepting luxury gifts in exchange for political favors and attempting to manipulate media coverage.

Netanyahu, who has consistently denied the accusations, is currently dealing with high-stakes national security matters, including Israel’s ceasefire with Iran and ongoing hostage negotiations with Hamas following the October 2023 attacks.

Calling Netanyahu a “War Hero,” Trump warned that the trial would interfere with crucial diplomatic efforts involving Iran and Hamas. He likened Netanyahu’s legal challenges to his own legal woes, framing both as politically motivated “witch hunts.”

Trump himself was convicted in May 2024 on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a hush money case. He also faces federal cases over the alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 U.S. election results.
