Actor Anjo Yllana has opened up about a brief romantic relationship he had with Kris Aquino during their younger years, revealing it only lasted three weeks before they decided to remain friends.
The revelation came during a casual interview with Snooky Serna on her YouTube channel, where Yllana was asked to talk about Aquino during a “Pick a Name” segment.
“I’ve never talked about this before,” Yllana began, recalling how their relationship began after doing one or two films together. “We became a couple for a short time.”
Yllana fondly greeted Aquino during the chat, referring to her as his “kumare” since he’s one of her son Josh’s godfathers.
He shared a moment that led to their breakup: “I visited her once and brought flowers from Baguio, but I saw she already had long-stemmed roses. When I asked who gave them, she casually said, ‘Oh, from Robin,’” referring to Robin Padilla.
Surprised, Yllana asked for clarity on their relationship. That’s when Aquino reportedly admitted she was also involved with Padilla and fellow actor Aga Muhlach at the time. “I was shocked,” Yllana laughed, “So I said, ‘You’re crazy. Let’s just be friends.’”
Despite the awkward ending, Yllana said they became very close afterward. He even advised Aquino during her controversial relationship with actor Phillip Salvador, saying, “Your family may not accept him because he’s separated, but they will accept your child.”
Their friendship eventually cooled after Yllana sided with actor Joey Marquez during a public dispute with Aquino. Still, Yllana sent his well-wishes to her, especially as she continues to battle autoimmune diseases.
