Bahrain Temporarily Closes Airspace Following Iranian Strike on US Base in Qatar

CAIRO — Bahrain briefly shut down its airspace on Monday as a safety measure following Iran’s missile attack on the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in neighboring Qatar.

The temporary airspace closure was described as a “precaution,” according to Bahrain’s official news agency, and has since been lifted.

Bahrain, located close to Qatar, hosts the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, which oversees military operations across the Gulf, Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and parts of the Indian Ocean—making it a key strategic hub for U.S. forces in the region.

The closure came amid heightened tensions in the Gulf following escalating military actions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
