Suga, the final member of global K-pop sensation BTS, has officially completed his mandatory military service, marking the full return of the group.
On Saturday, Suga quietly announced his discharge via Weverse, opting not to make a public appearance outside the military base. “It’s a day I’ve long awaited. I’ve had a lot of thoughts about how to greet you again,” he shared with fans.
He expressed deep gratitude to the BTS ARMY for their patience and support throughout his two-year enlistment, which he said gave him space for self-reflection and a break from his long-standing routine in the music industry.
Suga also addressed the 2024 drunk driving incident that made headlines. He acknowledged the disappointment it caused fans and his fellow members. “I’m truly sorry for making you worry. It hurt me deeply to know I let you down,” he said. “Above all, I regret the emotional weight it placed on the members.”
The incident involved Suga falling off his scooter after drinking, near his residence. Although no one was harmed and no property was damaged, police fined him $11,500 and suspended his license after a breathalyzer test. Suga previously issued a public apology, owning full responsibility for the incident.
Known for his solo work as Agust D, Suga began his service in September 2023. With his discharge, all seven BTS members have now completed their military duties. RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were discharged earlier this month.
Fans recently saw all seven together during J-Hope’s Hope on the Stage Final concert on June 13—BTS’ 12th anniversary celebration.
