Ruru Madrid expressed heartfelt gratitude and pride as his award-winning film Green Bones premiered on Netflix this week, calling it a life-changing experience.
The Kapuso Action Hero and Lolong star took to Instagram to share his feelings, saying the film is something he will “forever be thankful for and proud of.”
“This film didn’t just challenge me—it changed me,” Ruru wrote. He hopes that viewers will not only enjoy the movie but also take meaningful lessons from it.
“For art. For the nation. And for everyone still choosing to be kind in this world,” he added. “Thank you to everyone supporting us—I already feel your love.”
Produced by GMA Pictures and directed by Zig Dulay, Green Bones is based on a story by JC Rubio of GMA Public Affairs. The plot follows prison guard Elias (played by Ruru), who becomes obsessed with preventing the parole of Domingo Zamora (Dennis Trillo), a convict infamous for the brutal murder of his sister and niece.
Green Bones earned widespread acclaim, sweeping multiple categories at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actor for Dennis Trillo, Best Supporting Actor for Ruru, Best Cinematography, and Best Child Performer. It also took home top honors at the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards.
