Ruru Madrid is looking beyond acting and setting his sights on the director’s chair.
In a guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Wednesday, the Kapuso star was asked if he had any interest in directing. His answer was a resounding yes. “Gusto. Sobrang gusto,” he shared with enthusiasm.
Ruru confirmed that while he’s currently focused on acting, stepping into a directorial role is definitely in his future plans—possibly sooner than expected. “Yes. And anytime soon,” he added.
Currently, Ruru stars in Lolong: Ang Pangil ng Maynila, which is nearing its grand finale this Friday. He recently wrapped up taping and officially signed off from his role, acknowledging the physical and emotional challenges that came with portraying the title character.
“Playing Lolong wasn’t easy. I went through a lot, especially after getting injured. We had to adjust the story, but we kept going. No one gave up. Everyone stepped up,” he said.
Ruru first debuted as Lolong in 2022, and in this season, the character navigates life in Manila after losing his powers—facing thrilling new adventures.
