Taylor Swift Reclaims Rights to Her Music in Major Industry Victory

NEW YORK — Taylor Swift has officially reclaimed ownership of her entire music catalog, bringing an end to a long-standing battle over the rights to her first six albums.

Announcing the milestone on her website Friday, the global pop icon said, “All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me.” Swift described the achievement as a long-cherished dream fulfilled, especially after re-recording four of her early albums under the “Taylor’s Version” banner.

Among the re-recorded albums were Reputation and Taylor Swift, which helped her regain control after the rights to her master recordings were sold by former manager Scooter Braun to Shamrock Capital.

Swift reportedly purchased her masters back from Shamrock for an undisclosed sum, following years of advocating for artists’ rights and encouraging others to fight for control over their work.

Her bold move to re-record entire albums — a rare feat in the music industry — has reignited discussions about artist ownership and inspired newer musicians to negotiate master rights in their contracts.

Swift’s triumph coincides with the conclusion of her record-breaking Eras Tour, which grossed billions globally and further solidified her influence in both music and business.
