MANILA — Broadway icon Lea Salonga celebrated her child Nic Chien’s 19th birthday with a touching tribute on Instagram, calling them “the most precious human being in my little world.”
Posting a sweet portrait of them together, Salonga reflected on Nic’s birth and the profound impact they’ve had on her life. “The one that made me realize how insignificant my life was, until that initial piercing cry at 12:12 p.m. on May 16, 2006,” she wrote.
Now entering adulthood, Nic continues to make their mom proud. “With each step into adulthood, my heart grows in ways I couldn’t have predicted,” she shared. “That he is, with honesty and courage, growing into who he’s meant to be makes me incredibly proud.”
“Happy Birthday, my Nic!!! I love you to infinity!” Salonga added.
Last month, Lea and Nic opened up to People magazine about their shared journey through self-discovery and parenting. The pair will also co-star in the upcoming Philippine production of Into the Woods, playing the Witch and Jack respectively. The show premieres on August 7 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati, with added performances due to popular demand
