Former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson has called on local government units (LGUs) to submit their proposed development projects early to ensure they are considered for national funding in the following year’s budget.
Lacson advised LGUs to submit proposals by November or December, or at the latest by January, to the Department of Budget and Management or Malacañang. “It’s the DBCC’s job to set priorities, but no one knows local needs better than local leaders,” he said.
He also highlighted his long-standing advocacy for the Budget Reform Advocacy for Village Empowerment (BRAVE), which supports giving LGUs more control over resources and decision-making for local projects.
Lacson is exploring a proposal that would allocate one percent of national tax collections directly to LGUs for infrastructure and development.
Meanwhile, former Senator Gringo Honasan confirmed support for his 2025 Senate comeback from Senator Loren Legarda, who praised Honasan’s dedication to peace, reform, and public service. Honasan also received endorsements from Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Bangsamoro Party President Muslimin Sema.
Separately, TRABAHO Party-list pledged to push for workplace diversity and inclusion, particularly for LGBTQIA+, women, PWDs, and ethnic minorities. Spokesperson Atty. Mitchell-David Espiritu said they aim to bring inclusive practices to MSMEs and government offices, not just large corporations.
