Honey Lacuna, Stella and Miro Quimbo Vow to Answer Comelec’s Vote-Buying Allegations

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Marikina’s Stella and Miro Quimbo expressed their readiness to comply with the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) show cause orders regarding alleged vote-buying activities ahead of the May midterm elections.

Mayor Lacuna, who is seeking reelection, said she will respond promptly once she officially receives the Comelec’s directive.

“We will fully comply with the Comelec’s show cause order as soon as we receive a copy, because we respect due process… and we are confident we can disprove these accusations,” she said on 24 Oras Weekend.

Meanwhile, Marikina 2nd District Representative Stella Quimbo and her husband, Romero “Miro” Quimbo, also reaffirmed their willingness to face the issue. In a joint statement posted online, the couple emphasized they have yet to receive the formal complaint but are ready to respond, asserting they have done nothing wrong.

“We do not engage in vote-buying. Every vote in Marikina is sacred. We deeply honor the trust given to us by our constituents and will never violate it through illegal acts,” their statement said.

They also reiterated that the Comelec’s show cause order is part of a complaint process and not yet a formal case.

Lacuna and the Quimbos are among several candidates issued show cause orders by Comelec, linked to alleged vote buying and misuse of government resources during the campaign period.
