A motorcycle taxi driver is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed multiple times by a passenger in Quezon City early Sunday morning.
According to a report by 24 Oras, the 43-year-old driver was attacked without warning by his passenger as they reached an alley in Barangay Pag-Ibig sa Nayon around 5 a.m. The suspect stabbed him at least ten times before fleeing the scene with the victim’s motorcycle.
Barangay residents immediately responded after seeing the injured rider clutching his bleeding neck. They rushed him to the hospital after offering encouragement.
“He was holding his neck, soaked in blood. As he was being lifted into the ambulance, one of the officers told him, ‘Fight, you can make it!’ and he nodded,” shared barangay officer Mariz Villafania.
Initial police findings revealed the suspect had booked the ride from Recto Avenue in Manila. Interestingly, the suspect left the victim’s personal belongings untouched, taking only the motorcycle.
“The wallet and cash were still with the victim,” said Lt. Col. Gilbert Cruz, commander of La Loma Police Station.
Authorities are now tracking the suspect through CCTV footage and are working closely with the motorcycle taxi company to aid the investigation.
