Maricel Soriano Opens Up About Spinal Arthritis, Shares Struggles and Strength on 60th Birthday

Veteran actress Maricel Soriano revealed that she has been battling spinal arthritis, a condition that has greatly affected her ability to walk. The Diamond Star opened up about her health during a YouTube video days after celebrating her 60th birthday.

Fans grew concerned after a video showed Soriano needing assistance to walk during her birthday celebration. She later explained that her arthritis causes constant pain from her neck down to her feet, and that she’s also dealing with a pinched nerve — a condition she said runs in her family.

“My back and legs hurt, even my knees. I have spinal arthritis reaching up to my neck,” she said, describing the pain and mobility issues she’s been experiencing.

Soriano is undergoing steroid injections to help manage the inflammation and pain, although she admitted the relief takes time to kick in. She shared that doctors have suggested surgery, but she remains hopeful to avoid it through alternative treatments like aquatic therapy.

Despite her condition, Soriano stays optimistic. “Keep moving to keep living,” she said. “I’ve overcome many hardships in life. And for those suffering from the same condition, listen to your body. Don’t be afraid—God is with you.”

The beloved actress also encouraged others to seek strength from faith and perseverance. “If others have experienced miracles, why not you?”

She celebrated her milestone birthday in style with a star-studded party at New Frontier Theater, attended by many celebrity friends and industry peers.
