Actress Claudine Barretto has publicly expressed her unwavering support for singer Jojo Mendrez amid his ongoing blotter case against actor Mark Herras.
Mendrez recently filed a report before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, accusing Herras of issuing grave threats, although he declined to go into detail. The incident gained attention after fans noticed tension between the two during the recent PMPC Star Awards, where Mendrez was visibly uneasy around Herras.
In a video posted by entertainment journalist Rodel Ocampo Fernando, Barretto shared that she had been trying to contact Mendrez upon hearing the news. She explained that she was in Lanao with no signal when she learned of the situation but immediately sought to reach him.
“Don’t be afraid — I’m here for you,” she told Mendrez in the video, assuring him of her love and friendship. She emphasized that she didn’t want to say “I told you so,” recognizing his good heart and warning him to be cautious of people who may take advantage of him.
Barretto also encouraged Mendrez to stand firm if he knows he is in the right, stating that those who have wronged him should be held accountable. “You have my 100% support,” she said.
The singer, known as the “Revival King,” alleged in a separate interview that Herras threatened to burn down his house — a claim the actor has since denied.
Mendrez recently released the single “Nandito Lang Ako”, composed by OPM hitmaker Jonathan Manalo.
