Buboy Villar Opens Up About Financial Struggles, Admits Inconsistencies in Child Support

MANILA – Actor-comedian Buboy Villar has spoken candidly about the financial difficulties he has faced in supporting his children with ex-girlfriend Angillyn Gorens, admitting that he hasn’t always met the ₱120,000 monthly support they initially agreed upon.

In an emotional interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda aired Friday, Villar said he had been giving ₱60,000 twice a month before his financial situation worsened. “This was what Angillyn asked, and I tried my best to deliver,” he said. However, during the pandemic and amid inconsistent job offers, he found it difficult to keep up, with his contributions ranging from ₱45,000 to ₱60,000.

“As an artist, income isn’t steady. Sometimes I don’t have work, and I can only give what I have,” he explained.

Villar said the financial dispute even led them to seek help through the Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) program—not due to abuse, but as a way to legally address the issue of financial support.

“I was just trying to stretch my savings for the kids during the pandemic. ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’ was also struggling at the time,” he shared, reiterating that he’s doing his best to honor his word as a father.

He also touched on more personal matters, revealing that Gorens had a child from a previous relationship in the U.S. before they got together. “I didn’t get mad. I just hoped she respected me like I respected her,” he said.

Villar said he reached out to learn more about Gorens’ other child so he could be prepared if their own children had questions. Their public rift has gained attention in recent weeks, especially following Gorens’ allegations of abuse and financial neglect.
