SC Appoints Manuel Gaerlan as First Judiciary Marshal Chief

Manila, Philippines – The Supreme Court (SC) has appointed retired Brigadier General Manuel Gaerlan as the first Chief Marshal of the Office of the Judiciary Marshal, tasked with ensuring the security of judges, court personnel, and judiciary properties across the country.

Gaerlan took his oath before Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo at the SC session hall on Monday.

A Seasoned Law Enforcer

Before his appointment, Gaerlan served in both the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP). His past roles include:
Division Chief and Assistant Director for Operations at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)
Chief of Provincial Intelligence and Investigation Branch in Cavite
Member of the Presidential Security Group under late President Fidel Ramos

To aid in his responsibilities, three deputy marshals will be assigned across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
