A 21-year-old man sustained multiple injuries after allegedly being assaulted by four minors in Quezon City, according to a 24 Oras report by EJ Gomez.
How the Incident Unfolded
The victim was walking home with his girlfriend when he accidentally grazed one of the suspects in a narrow street. Despite apologizing, he was allegedly challenged to a fight.
“They held his hands tightly, so my brother used a tumbler to free himself. Then, he was punched from behind, starting from his ears. He fell, but they forced him to stand up just to hit him again,” the victim’s sister recounted.
The attack left the victim with wounds on his face and body, and he reportedly experienced dizziness, vomiting, and difficulty standing due to severe back pain.
Investigation and Conflicting Claims
Barangay personnel located two of the suspects, both high school students. Meanwhile, one of the minors filed a police blotter, claiming that the victim also assaulted him.
“When he was grazed, the victim asked, ‘Did it hurt? What’s your problem?’ The suspect apparently didn’t like that. Then, the victim hit him with a tumbler, leaving him with a bleeding wound,” explained Barangay Pasong Tamo Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) officer Maria Consuelo Eugenio.
Authorities are still searching for the other two suspects, while the arrested minors may be placed in a youth rehabilitation center under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
