Kyla Recounts Near-Accident While Sledging in Swiss Alps

MANILA – Singer Kyla is counting her blessings after a near-death experience while sledging with her family in Switzerland.

In an Instagram post on February 9, Kyla shared how she almost fell off a 3,500-meter-high mountain, describing it as the scariest moment of her life.

A Terrifying Close Call

“I wasn’t in this video because I was far behind Rich and Toby,” Kyla wrote, referring to her husband Rich Alvarez and their son.

She explained how she lost control of her sledge and instinctively let go just before it plunged down the mountainside.

“My instinct told me to let go. I saw my sledge disappear in less than 30 seconds. That could’ve been me. I could’ve been lost forever!” she shared.

Fortunately, Kyla was able to dig her hands into the snow to stop herself from sliding further. Two passing skiers then helped her crawl back to the track, which she called an act of “God’s angels.”

Grateful for Life

Despite feeling shaken and embarrassed, Kyla focused on the picturesque scenery to calm herself.

When she reunited with her husband, she recalled holding back tears to avoid alarming their son.

“Rich hugged me and said, ‘I’m just glad you’re safe,’” she wrote.

She also reflected on the loss of her sledge, which cost 200 Swiss Francs (₱12,000).

“I was telling myself while paying for it, ‘You can have my 200 francs. I’m just glad I have my life,’” she joked.

Conquering Her Fear

Determined not to let fear win, Kyla bravely went sledging again the next day, tackling even steeper and faster slopes.

Although she fell twice, her husband supported her throughout the experience.

“We walked more than half of the 30- to 45-minute track, but thank God we’re safe,” she shared.

With her resilience and gratitude for life, Kyla’s experience serves as a powerful reminder of faith, courage, and second chances. ❄️🙏
