After eight years, Winwyn Marquez is making a grand pageant comeback, officially representing Muntinlupa City in Miss Universe Philippines 2025.
From Reina to Miss Universe Hopeful
The 2017 Reina Hispanoamericana winner—who made history as the first Asian titleholder in the Latin-dominated pageant—is now setting her sights on the Miss Universe crown.
During her official sashing ceremony, Marquez shared her motivation:
🗣️ “Never give up on your dream. It’s never too late to take a chance on yourself. I don’t want to live with the question of ‘what if?’”
Breaking Barriers in Miss Universe
Marquez, now 32 years old and a mother, is eligible to compete following Miss Universe’s new inclusivity rules, which allow mothers and women of all ages to join.
📌 “The Miss Universe Organization opened its doors to all women, and I truly appreciate that. I hope people see the journey of a mother preparing for this competition.”
A Pageant Veteran with a Legacy
Before her international win, Marquez was a Binibining Pilipinas 2015 semifinalist, competing alongside Pia Wurtzbach, who later won Miss Universe 2015. She also won multiple awards in the Miss World Philippines 2017 pageant before clinching her Reina Hispanoamericana title.
Coming from a family of beauty queens and celebrities, Marquez is the niece of Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez and cousin of Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee.
