Cellphones Snatched in Cavite Tracked to San Juan Mall, Owners Fail to Retrieve Them

Imus, Cavite – Two cellphones stolen in separate incidents in Imus, Cavite were later tracked to a mall in San Juan City, but their owners were unable to recover them.

How the Thefts Happened

📍 One victim, a student named “Joseph”, was walking along NIA Road in Barangay Carsadang Bago 2 when motorcycle-riding thieves snatched his phone.
📍 Another victim also had their phone stolen in a similar manner, leading authorities to suspect the same group of robbers.

Despite tracking his phone to a San Juan City mall, Joseph was unable to retrieve it. By the time he checked again, the device was no longer in the area.

Lack of Police Assistance

🔹 Joseph sought help from the Greenhills Police Community Precinct, but officers said they could not accompany him inside the mall.
🔹 Security guards also stated that they could not provide assistance.
🔹 Police Captain Jesus Agcaoili Jr. explained that police presence inside the mall might alert the suspects, making it harder to catch them.

Rising Cases of Phone Theft

📊 From January 1 to February 7, 2025, 29 cases of stolen cellphones were reported in the area.
🛑 The mall’s management declined to issue a statement on the incident.
