After four years of living in London, Bela Padilla is returning to the Philippines to focus on her acting career full-time.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday, January 26, the actress reflected on her journey since moving to London in 2021. She shared glimpses of her life abroad, expressing gratitude for the lessons and experiences that shaped her over the years.
A Chapter of Growth and Reflection
“I am temporarily closing this chapter as I prepare to work full-time again,” Padilla wrote. She admitted that while her time in London had its challenges, it also brought her moments of beauty and self-discovery.
“Living in London made me question everything I knew, forced me to square my shoulders, walk faster, and be more vigilant,” she said. “But it also gave me the most beautiful flowers just around my neighborhood to remind me of happiness.”
Padilla spoke of how London’s changing seasons mirrored her emotional journey, describing autumn’s sad colors and the quiet moments of confusion and growth.
A Sharpened Perspective
The actress shared that her life in London sharpened her instincts and motivated her to maintain her health while navigating her autoimmune disorder. She also embraced the practical lessons she learned, such as riding a bike and driving on the left side of the road.
“London also gave me the best friends that one could develop in adulthood, abroad,” Padilla added, expressing her gratitude for the meaningful connections she made during her stay.
Looking Ahead
Though leaving London saddened her, Padilla remains hopeful she will “call it home again” someday. “London is polite but shouts when you’re wrong. Beautiful but rough around the edges. Kind but has a darkness that could scare the tough… my friend, London,” she wrote.
Before officially returning to the Philippines, Padilla made visits for various engagements, including the launch of her makeup line and guest appearances on It’s Showtime. She now has two major projects lined up: the drama series What Lies Beneath and the film 100 Awit Para Kay Stella.
