Renowned photographer BJ Pascual has addressed statements made by singer Denise Julia by releasing screenshots to provide what he called “full context” of their dispute. Pascual took to X late Wednesday, explaining that his intent was to bring transparency and closure to the issue.
The Budget Controversy
In his statement, Pascual clarified that his team worked to reduce the shoot’s budget from ₱1.2 million to ₱371,000 for a one-day shoot, which he described as “well below industry standards.” He noted that this effort aligned with Denise Julia’s working budget of ₱800,000 but claimed that this crucial detail was omitted in her earlier statements.
The financial negotiation included reducing the scope of the shoot from three vignettes to two. Pascual also revealed a detailed spreadsheet of costs, emphasizing his team’s efforts to accommodate Denise Julia’s requests.
Cancellation of the Shoot
Pascual countered Denise Julia’s claim that budget issues led to the cancellation, stating that the shoot was called off because Denise’s glam team canceled at the last minute. A screenshot of a conversation with Denise’s manager showed the glam team’s absence as the primary reason for their hesitation, despite Pascual’s team securing a replacement hair and makeup artist.
The decision to cancel was finalized at 11:27 p.m., just hours before the scheduled shoot. Pascual shared that he personally covered the costs incurred by his team and suppliers in preparation for the event.
Miscommunication Allegations
To address claims of unconfirmed scheduling, Pascual shared messages showing that Denise Julia’s manager agreed to the August 14 shoot and confirmed the necessary details. Pascual highlighted that Denise herself responded to messages regarding the shoot, further supporting his assertion that the date and details were clear.
Pascual’s Apology and Appeal
Pascual apologized for addressing the issue during the holiday season, stating that his goal was to promote fairness and professionalism in the industry.
“I hope that sharing the full context, which is consistent with what I truthfully shared in the podcast, will help put this issue to rest,” Pascual concluded.
