Maiqui Pineda Celebrates Clinical Remission: ‘Best Early Christmas Gift’

Maiqui Pineda, wife of TV host Robi Domingo, shared a joyous update on her battle with dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease: she is now in clinical remission.

Pineda announced the good news on Instagram on December 15, calling it the “best early Christmas gift.”

“Clinical remission means that the signs and symptoms of my autoimmune disease are now barely detectable, even if the disease may not be completely cured. In short — I’M OKAY!” she wrote.

A Christmas Miracle

Pineda learned of her remission during a November trip to Singapore, where her doctor described her recovery as a “Christmas miracle.”

“Hearing those words… brought tears to our eyes,” she said. “I’m beyond grateful for this gift and for the prayers and support that helped me keep going.”

The Journey to Remission

In her vlog, Pineda recounted her struggle with symptoms such as hair loss, skin allergies, stiff fingers, and heart palpitations, which worsened in late 2023. She isolated herself during last year’s Christmas celebrations to protect her health ahead of her January 2024 wedding.

From July to September this year, she experienced recurring illnesses, prompting her doctors to adjust her medication. By November, tests confirmed that her condition had significantly improved, allowing her to reduce her medication dosage.

“This is what I prayed for, and so did all of you here. It’s finally real,” Pineda said.

Looking Ahead

Now focusing on a peaceful Christmas celebration, Pineda expressed gratitude for the support she received and hinted at exciting plans for the coming year.

Pineda and Domingo publicly shared her condition in August 2023 during their wedding preparations, tying the knot in January 2024.
